Celebrating Dashain Tihar 2008 (2065)

The Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV), in association with all Nepalese Communities in Victoria and with support from Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC), and the City of Yarra is organising “Dasain-Tihar” Extravaganza 2008 (2065) to celebrate the biggest festival in the Nepalese Calender.

NAV has received grants from the Victorian Government and various sponsors to organise this festival. The festival will bring together communities through colourful, vibrant and powerful cultural performances to showcase the diversity of Victoria. NAV has put together a cultural extravaganza with dances, songs and cultural performances by our local and indigenous artists. The availability of variety of delicious Nepalese food will further enhance the cultural experience. As always, this event will promote Nepalese culture and heritage, and raise awareness of the presence of Nepalese community within the Australian multicultural society. Plenty of new faces are expected to appear this year in Victoria, NAV will welcome:

• New Nepalese students who are pursuing their study
• New Nepalese migrants
• New Honorary Nepalese Consul.

Dashain Tihar fete special:

• Live performance with Nepalese cultural music, songs, dances, and fashion parade
• Delicious Nepalese food (Dal-bhat, Tarkari, Aloo Achar, Aloo Tama, Masu, Shel Roti, Sag, Momo etc)
• Festival ceremony – Dasain puja, tika-jamara
• Exhibition of Nepalese arts and crafts, photographs and paintings
• Nepalese Handicraft and other trade promotion stalls
• Sponsors stands to promote their product and services
• Game stalls
• Other fun and entertainment activities.
• Many raffle tickets and door prizes to win
