Human civilization is the changing form of various types of cultural activities happening in our day to day life. Culture is the main identity of particular community within the broad range of human society. The society is made up of various combination of thoughts, feelings, emotions, language and day to day activities which are very unique to continue the existential life on the planet. Traditional cultures, values and norms are the great source of knowledge in the context of the human civilization. Our children are the building blocks of our community. If the kids start learning their own culture and language first, then it would be much easier to compare and contrast between the many cultures. Then only, they will be capable and compete in different levels of intra-cultural as well as inter-cultural participation.

Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) is a community organization representing all the Nepali origin people throughout the Victoria. So, NAV has formally promised to launch a series of an interesting program during its tenure. We are very excited to announce our 2nd promising program “Festival Celebration & Speech Contest”. Moreover, Nepalese Association of Victoria has announced another academic program and Cultural program for the school children & all the Nepali from Australia.

The program includes celebration of Festivals & Cultural performance from various artists. These are the greatest festival of Nepali people. The main aim of this program is to teach the basic knowledge of our first language, culture and religion for our kids. If we can include our children within the environment of multi-language, multi-culture and bi-lingual society, only then they can easily fit in the multicultural society.

The children speech contest event is only about Dashain & Tihar. The contestant has been divided in to two aged groups: one is from 6 to 11 years and another one is from 12 to 16 years. Each participant has been given 3 minutes time to deliver their speech. Apart from this, there is an evaluation committee of five members who are known as community leaders and scholars. There is provision of attractive cash prize for the first, second and third winners from both groups.

Similarly, the cultural program represents a collaborative study of how dance performances can enhance the curriculum subjects such as history, language arts, physical education, geography, and culture. Cultural dances can provide children creative opportunities to learn about multicultural aspects. The cultural program is performed in between the speech competition by various well-known artists. There will be participation of children from various Nepali schools too. We are very glad to have them with us to showcase their talent in this program.

Cultural program is mainly for entertainment only. We do not have any competition for cultural program, it purely to showcase our culture and tradition. The delivery method of all the program is completely online via Zoom and Facebook Live. The whole program is going to be held on Saturday 24 October 2020, 5 pm onwards.

Lastly, Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) is very much excited and would like to request all Nepali people residing in Victoria to participate in the coming program to make it grand success.
